Age Prohibition

There's been a lot of talk of little kids going into the wrong places on Ala, aka the 18+ board. I think a simple fix to this would be to require your actual birthdate so that ala can verify if you are 18 or not and so you either would, or wouldn't be allowed on that board, period. And to verify you are 13+ or have your parents e-mail them.

What about facebook? It asks for a year. What if it's kind of like that?

If you want a literate RP Eden, just go to the RP forum for your appropriate age and start a literate one. I'm constantly watching the "Through the Eyes of Alacrity", there are several literate RPs going on in there.

I'm not sure that everyone understands that this isn't a questions about maturity. This could get Ala sued. It's illegal for a site to have anything 'explicit' available to someone under 13 in the US. There isn't a whole lot of leeway you can go with that =(<br /> <br /> The law really is a lose-lose since you can't ask for an age to keep them out, yet you can't have anything out in the open available for them x.x

Disagree with this. I mean, maybe we could have a test for people who are having a first time going into the 18+ board? I admit I'm 13 and go into the board, but only purely for the RP because it's much more literate and better to be RPing with older people who have knowledge of grammar and spelling.

Maybe that could work Gracie, I mean I'm 13 and really wouldn't go on that board any way, but if we could find some other thing that would keep minors out.

But that still wouldn't prevent tons of people from lying about their birth year... there's not much you can do about that.<br /> <br /> I've been on several sites where by default you can't view the 18+ section, and to access it you talk to an admin or mod who, I guess, change a setting on your account.

I just looked at the rules, it says if there is any way your site is gear toward 13 and younger, your not allowed ask for any kind of private info X.x

Oh, so many other sites ask it though?
